Canaseraga Urban Masterplan

Studio-Wide Masterplanning Project

A twelve-person design project in which the Village of Canaseraga in the Town of Burns, New York is assessed and analyzed for potential areas of maintenance, revitalization of existing structures and new construction. A proposal in the form of phased plans of action was developed for each of the areas of defined focus: The Main Street Historic District, Areas of Potential New Business, The Main Street Corridor Streetscape, and The Areas of Potential Civic Spaces.

Meetings and cooperation with the village residents and the acting mayor of the village were invaluable in informing the direction and attitude of the proposed addition to the existing Town of Burns Comprehensive Plan.

This project was presented in its entirety to the village council and residents in the Village of Canaseraga, at the Appalachian Teaching Project Conference in Maryland, and at Monroe Community College in Allegany County, New York.
